Habitats of North Dakota: A New Generation of Lessons (Summer 2024)

Course Description: Take a look at the new Habitats of North Dakota lesson plans.  You will still get the standards based text but with updated, ready to use lessons that can be implemented into your classroom.  Each lesson features connections to ND Content Standards and technology.  Explore new ways to integrate the Habitats into your curriculum. 

The North Dakota Habitats curriculum and new Habitats Lesson Plans will be used as textbooks for this course. The course is suitable for both elementary and secondary teachers.  The workshop will be fun and fast paced with many hands-on activities’ educators can use in their classrooms, discussion of classroom and curriculum integration, and walking field trips, weather permitting.  All supplies are provided. 

All participants will receive a complete Habitats of North Dakota curriculum including student texts, the new Activity Guide and supporting materials. 

Course Objectives:

  1. Students will be able to identify the 5 distinct habitats of North Dakota.
  2. Students will be able to identify wildlife species within the 5 habitats of North Dakota.
  3. Students will be able to identify the threats of each habitat and its impact of each habitat.
  4. Students will be able to integrate Habitats lessons into their existing curriculum.

Textbook(s): Habitats of North Dakota, Habitats of ND Lesson Plans, Tracks and Animal Signs, Butterflies, Moths, Dragonflies and Damselfies  (All textbooks will be provided at no charge to students.)
